Welcome
The foundation for a new future for Coatesville
“Welcome! My name is Karl Marking and I’m the newly elected Vice President of the Coatesville City Council. I was elected to City Council as the representative for the 4th Ward in the November 2009 general election and was sworn-in at yesterday’s Council Reorganization meeting at City Hall by District Judge Greg Hines. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me (regardless of party affiliation). I believe Coatesville’s needs far outweigh any concerns regarding political party affiliation and as such, am happy to be serving closely with Council President Ed Simpson.
As I look forward to the work ahead one thing is clear - things will undoubtedly get a bit harder before they get better. The incoming Council (Jarrell Brazzle, Joe Hamrick, and Ingrid Jones sworn-in January 4th) will be working with remaining council persons Marty Eggleston, Karen Jorgenson and Ed Simpson. We will all be faced with some difficult decisions requiring both responsible actions and creative solutions to the city’s current state of affairs. As I’ve said throughout my campaign, we need people on council who are both willing and able to do the work that lies ahead. The confidence you’ve placed in me will allow me to demonstrate my convictions and thoughts for moving the city forward in conjunction with the rest of the council.
I encourage you to join the discussion about Coatesville through my blog as we build on our strengths and solve the issues our city is facing. I encourage everyone in the 4th Ward, and in the city as a whole, to contact me when you have an issue or a concern about the City Council or the administration. We all live here and therefore have a personal investment in what happens next. We must all do our parts - big or small - to lay the ground work to return Coatesville to a safe and thriving city!”
